Every chain we sell is made to the same standard as our pendants - solid 925 sterling silver, finished by hand in our Warwickshire workshop. We offer chains in 16", 18", 20", 24" and 30" lengths, so you can choose the perfect drop for a single pendant or build a layered set from several lengths.

What types of chains does John Garland Taylor offer?

We offer sterling silver chains and 9ct gold chains, available in a range of lengths to suit
different necklines and layering styles.

Can I wear a JGT chain with a pendant?

Yes. Our chains work beautifully with JGT pendants or your own existing pendants. Check the clasp type and ring size on the product page for compatibility.

Are the chains solid silver or plated?

All JGT chains are crafted in solid 925 sterling silver or 9ct gold, never plated.

Do silver chains make a good gift?

A silver chain is a thoughtful, versatile gift that suits most styles. Pair it with a pendant
necklace from our collection for a complete gift.

What length necklace chain should I choose?

As a guide: 16" sits at the base of the neck, 18" just below the collarbone, 20" on the upper chest, 24" mid-chest, and 30" lower for a statement drop. If you're layering, combine lengths at least several inches apart. Our layering guide explains the best combinations in detail.

What are your chains made from?

Which chain lengths are best for layering?

For a two-piece layered look, an 18" paired with a 24" gives clear separation without tangling. For a fuller three-piece set, add a 30". Avoid combining lengths within two inches of each other, such as 16" and 18". See our full necklace layering guide.

Fabulous addition to my Molly Collection!

Lucy Bangle

I ordered two different thicknesses of this bangle as unsure which one would suit me best. I preferred the 4mm version but it was too big. I returned both, one for a refund and one for an exchange. Communication was great, as was advice about sizing The smaller size fits perfectly and I can't wait to wear it on my wedding day! Outstanding personal service and highly recommend.
